Wow, talk about bringing back memories! I grew up in SoCal, and racial diversity was so ever present. The movie spoke to many of the situations I encountered growing up in a small suburban town in Orange County, CA. (Oh, one correction - the movie was released in 1990.

Being a minority didn't stop me from pursuing my dreams and goals in life. I too served, but unlike you I joined the Marine Corps - where you are no longer white, brown or yellow. All Marines are green!

About the movie, I can still remember Public Enemy's Chuck D's raspy voice. Oh, and Samuel L Jackson was great as the neighborhood DJ. A young Martin Lawrence makes an appearance as some other know actors. The clothing and style were all 80's for sure.
