While reading an article about the Sooners on Sports Illustrated recently, I noticed that a lot of the ads were for teeth whitening (see the screenshot below). Even more interesting is that these ads are likely there because the advertiser bid on specific keywords that a page should contain to display the ad (aka Keyword Pay Per Click).
I can only assume that the advertiser has studied the dental habits of the United States and concluded that Sooner fans are known for their yellow teeth. There are many known causes of tooth discoloration, yet the best scientific minds are baffled when it comes to an explanation for why it is so prevalent amongst a single demographic.
